THE ROOMS AT THE HUMBIRD - HAMILTON ROOM

Updated: Sep 23, 2024

We will be highlighting one room a week to help get out information as we get our online reservation system up and running. Today we feature: HAMILTON ROOM

As the tale Goes, in 1873, a gentleman from the Old Country stepped off the train from Chicago to reunite with family here in Humbird and brought Smallpox to this area. Dr. Hamilton of Alma Center is the only physician of record during that time for Humbird, Alma Center and Merrillan proper.

In 1873 this building was converted into a Smallpox Hospital and served in that capacity until 1876. In 1878, Dr. Hamilton moved his practice from Alma Center to Merrillan. As of today, we are unable to find records of him past 1878.

During Ghost Hunting, this room has given us echoes of past medical procedures and the doctor speaking with his nurse and patients. As such, we believe this room was the surgical room for the hospital. The bed frame is an original hospital frame from that era.

The Hamilton Room features a full size bed, 55 inch TV and period furniture and art in a dark romantic setting. It is one of the most paranormal active rooms in the property.

The Hamilton Room is available for $99 a night regular price, subject to change with events, seasonal traffic etc. All rates are based on a two person occupancy. Please note, due to the age of the building and to preserve historical integrity, there are two shared bathrooms utilized by all staying in the hotel. No accommodations can be made for private baths.

The Doctor is in.
